Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” to Lead Sotheby’s Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale on May 2, 2012 in New York

Sotheby’s will offer one of the most famous masterpieces in the world at its Impressionist & Modern Art evening sale on May 2, 2012 in New York.  Sotheby’s estimates the painting will bring roughly  $80 million dollars, but experts believe the sky is the limit.

The present version of The Scream dates from 1895, and is one of four versions of the composition, and the only version still in private hands.  Read Sotheby’s complete press release here.
